Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information RupeeCompass ("RupeeCompass", "we", "us") collects when you use rupeecompass.in, how it is used, and the choices you have. RupeeCompass is an independent, privately run website that provides free personal-finance calculators for people in India. In short: we built it so that there is almost nothing for us to collect.
Information We Collect
- Calculator inputs: none. Anything you type into a calculator stays in your browser (see below).
- Usage analytics. Through Google Analytics 4 we receive aggregate usage data: pages viewed, approximate location (city or region level), device and browser type, referring website, and visit duration. As with any analytics tool, Google receives your IP address and browser and device details when your browser contacts its servers. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses, and we never see your IP address or any individual's activity.
- Your cookie choice. If you accept or reject the cookie banner, we store that choice in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again. You can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" button in the footer of every page.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
We do not ask for or store your name, phone number, PAN, Aadhaar, bank or card details, or income documents. RupeeCompass has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no forms that submit data to a server.
Financial Data: We Don't Collect It
Every calculator on RupeeCompass runs entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Numbers you enter — income, loan amount, age, health status, or anything else — are used only to compute the result shown on your screen. They are never transmitted to our servers, never stored in a database, and never shared with any third party. There is no server-side processing of your calculator inputs on this site.
Cookies & Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate location, device type) via cookies. We use Google's Consent Mode v2. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics and advertising-related storage stay off until you press Accept on our cookie banner. Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on until you press Reject, and advertising-related storage stays off until you press Accept. Pressing Reject switches off all of it, and we also delete any Google Analytics cookies already on your device. We run no advertising network at the moment.
Besides page views, we record two simple usage events. calculator_used is sent once per page visit, the first time you change any field in a calculator, and carries only a calculator name taken from the page address (for example personal-loan-emi-calculator). If partner links are ever shown on the site, affiliate_click is sent when you click one and carries only the partner's identifier (for example bankbazaar). The numbers you type into a calculator are never read or sent, and these events contain no personal data.

These are the standard Google Analytics 4 cookies. Google may change their names or lifetimes, and we will update this table if we become aware of a change. Google Analytics is provided by Google, which may process data on servers outside India; see Google's own privacy policy for details. As of the effective date, we do not run an advertising network on this site. If we start to, we will update this table and the banner first, and advertising-related storage will stay off until you accept.
To change your choice later, use the "Cookie settings" button in the footer of any page; it reopens the banner. You can also block cookies in your browser, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

Your Rights Under India's DPDP Act
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, individuals have rights over their personal data, including the right to access, correct, and erase data held about them. Because RupeeCompass's calculators do not collect or store your financial inputs, and our analytics data is aggregate and does not directly identify you, there is minimal personal data for us to hold in the first place.
Subject to the Act and its rules, you may:
- ask for a summary of any personal data we hold about you and how it is processed;
- ask us to correct or erase personal data we hold about you;
- withdraw consent you have given, for example by rejecting non-essential cookies;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated; and
- raise a grievance about how we handle your personal data.

Please include enough detail for us to understand your request. We will acknowledge and respond to grievances within the time required by applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Children
RupeeCompass is intended for adults making financial decisions. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Retention and Security
Because we hold almost no personal data, there is little to retain. We configure Google Analytics to keep event-level data for 14 months, and emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your query. Calculator inputs never leave your device, which is the strongest protection we can offer for them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
